You know that cute little widget you got that follows the reader up and down the page? The one that seems to always land on the text I’m trying to read?Don’t like it. It doesn’t make me want to follow you on your social network and it doesn’t make me want to subscribe to your RSS feed. Sorry, that’s just the way it is. Something that sticks to the edges is okay. I don’t even mind the Wibya toolbar. But when it overlaps the text or moves about on the page in a distracting manner, that’s when you cross the line. I came to your site to experience the content, and when your widget distracts me from that, then it becomes counterproductive.

That should be the first rule of blogging: Don’t be counterproductive. You have too much competition to go around shooting yourself in the foot.
